Cosmetic Bonding
Bonding is an alternative to braces or removing a tooth because of chips cracks or similar problems. It has never been easier to address the embarrassing problems that unfortunately occur during the most inopportune times.
In some cases hereditary flaws develop and can cause you to reluctantly smile or feel uncomfortable in social events. You do not have to simply "live with it."
Dental bonding involves the use of composite resin that is specially designed so that it can be color-matched to each patient’s teeth to provide a completely natural-looking result.
Bonding procedures are relatively fast depending on the amount of care or amount of work being done. Odds are you can be in and out of the office in about an hour on an average.
The procedure begins by the application of an etching solution to the damages area contingent on any preliminary work in preparation to the technique. The etching solution creates grooves that allow for proper adhesion of the composite resin bonding agent. The resin is then applied to the teeth in layers. After each layer is applied it is hardened with a powerful, specially designed light. Once the appropriate number of resin layers has been applied and hardened the tooth can be sculpted and polished until a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing result is achieved.
